Guilt

Guilt is a killer

It kills true love

It’s sly and contagious

And it’s very sad

Guilt erodes a relationship

It destroys the soul

It damages everything

With nothing to show

How can I stop it

It’s ruining my life?

I try to hold on

to put up a fight

The battle is lost

What can I do?

It has me in its grip

I depend on you

I yearn for your arms

To hold me again

To tell me you love me

That it’s not in vain

The guilt is receding

I think it has gone

Thank you for helping

I know I was wrong

I am starting afresh

Leaving the past behind

The future is before me

I have a new mind

A mind that is free of guilt and of shame

A mind that accepts and moves on from blame
